Here at HullStudents not only do we make sure each house meets at high standard but we make sure landlords meet a minimum standard too. This means even the greatest houses won’t make it on the site unless the landlord stacks up too, and vice versa. One of our team fondly remembers living in an amazing student house in Newcastle but the landlord, a Mr Rachid of Portland Residential, yes, we’re naming you, was a convicted criminal and boy did it show after a month or two of living there.
We get house and landlord reviews from all students that have lived somewhere they found through HullStudents, we make sure the landlord is accredited with a national body, we check the house out and ensure it’s value for money and that the deposit is reasonable.
To prove we only offer you the best houses, we limit ourselves to just 50 houses per academic year, all in prime student land around Newland Avenue.
Does it have a gas safety certificate?
Are the electrics signed off?
Is the energy performance good? (if students pay bills)
Is the deposit going in a tenancy deposit scheme?
Insurance in order?
Furniture fire safety ticked off?
Unless it’s a yes to all the above, it won’t be on our site.
